Wartburg Choir

NelsonLeeThe internationally acclaimed Wartburg Choir under the direction of Dr. Lee Nelson will appear in concert at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron on Tuesday, April 24 at 7:30 pm. The concert, which is sponsored by Arts @ Holy Trinity, is open to the public, with free-will donations accepted.

Choir 101717 JD081 1024x439Founded in 1937, the Wartburg Choir performs sacred music from all historical periods and styles and often features premiere works of contemporary composers, including Morten Lauridsen, Eriks Ešenvalds, Ola Gjeilo, René Clausen, Stacey V. Gibbs, and Tom Trenney. The choir was named the 2016-17 winner of The American Prize in Choral Performance in the college/university division and has accepted multiple invitations to perform at the national conferences of the American Choral Directors Association, most  recently in 2017.

Wartburg is a selective liberal arts college of the Lutheran Church (ELCA), nationally recognized for community engagement. The college’s 1,527 students come from 55 countries and 30 states.
